Laboratory and Field Technician – Wellington

Keen to up your skills in the geotechnical field and lab work? This Wellington-based role is a great chance to build real, practical experience while working on exciting projects.

Whether you’ve studied Earth Science, Geology, Physical Geography, or completed the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering, we’d love to hear from you. No experience? No problem. If you’re a student or new graduate, we’ll give you full on-the-job training and support to get you confident fast.

You’ll get the best of both worlds: some days in the office, other days out on site – fresh air, real samples, real results. Because we travel to different locations, you’ll sometimes start early or finish late, and there may be occasional paid overtime.

If you’re curious, hands-on, and ready to learn, this is your chance to kick-start your geotech journey in the real world.

Kei te hiahia mātou ki ōu pūkenga | We want your skills

This role will mainly involve:

  • Construction materials testing (field and laboratory)
  • Data entry and reporting

Nā tōu rourou | What you’ll bring

  • A Bachelor of Science (BSc) qualification, majoring in Earth Science, Geology, Physical Geography, Environmental Science (preferred)
  • You will ideally have completed at least Level 2 NCEA and have 0-2 years’ work experience.
  • A full drivers licence and ability to operate a manual vehicle.
  • Able to lift items weighing 20kg+;
  • Computer literate – especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
