CPT Technician – Christchurch

We have an exciting opportunity for a CPT Technician to join our Geotechnics team in Christchurch. This role offers the chance to work on unique projects alongside a supportive and skilled team.

As part of our Geotechnics group, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality testing and investigations that support some of New Zealand’s most interesting infrastructure and development projects. You’ll enjoy a mix of field and lab work, hands-on technical challenges, and the chance to collaborate with experienced professionals who are passionate about what they do.

Kei te hiahia mātou ki ōu | We want your skills

  • A proven track record of strong work ethic and delivering high-quality results
  • In-depth knowledge of all types of CPT testing
  • Solid competency in Microsoft Word and Excel (intermediate level or above)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively

The work is varied and includes:

  • CPT testing, reporting, maintenance, and quality control
  • Geotechnical field testing and investigation
  • Civil laboratory testing
  • Operating heavy testing and soil sampling equipment
  • Business development activities
  • Training and supervising technicians

Nā tōu rourou | What you’ll bring

  • 2+ years’ experience with CPT equipment and data compilation
  • Full NZ driver’s licence (Class 2 preferred; training available)
  • Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on, outdoor work
  • Willingness to travel and work across regions
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills
  • Team player with a proactive, problem-solving attitude
  • High attention to detail, time management, and quality paperwork
  • Appreciation for quality systems and processes
