Field Technician – Napier/Hawkes Bay
Are you practical, hands‑on, and ready to learn? We’re looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, isn’t afraid of physical work, and can get stuck in as part of our geotechnical field team.

You’ll be supported with on‑the‑job training to learn how to carry out a range of field and laboratory tasks, including:
- Collecting and handling soil and rock samples.
- Assisting with field investigations and monitoring.
- Operating heavy equipment and tools for sampling and testing.
- Recording and entering data accurately.
- Supporting engineers and clients on site.
- Maintaining safe and high‑quality work practices.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, physical work and wants to build a career in the civil or environmental field — no prior lab or field‑testing experience required. We’ll teach you everything you need to know. A reasonable level of physical fitness is essential.
Nā tōu rourou | What you’ll bring
- A current NZ driver’s licence (restricted or full, Class 1).
- Good physical fitness – able to lift 25 kg+ and work comfortably outdoors in all conditions.
- A positive, can‑do attitude and willingness to learn.
- Team spirit – reliable, approachable, and good to work alongside.
- Basic computer skills, especially using Excel and Word.
- Good communication and time‑management skills.
- Someone who takes pride in their work and gets things done.
Previous experience in fieldwork, construction, or hands‑on practical roles is a plus, but not essential — enthusiasm and work ethic matter most.
The field technician will play a pivotal role in our business through project management and customer engagement. Performing all work in accordance with our IANZ accreditation and project management system.
