Laboratory and Field Technician – Wellington or Kapiti/Horowhenua
If you are keen to gain hands-on geotechnical field and laboratory experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a practical environment.
We have roles based in Wellington and in the Kāpiti/Horowhenua region.
This position is well suited to students or graduates of Earth Science, Geology, Physical Geography, or the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering. Previous experience is not essential, as full on-the-job training will be provided.
The nature of the work may involve early starts, late finishes, and occasional overtime, offering valuable real-world exposure to geotechnical projects.

This role will mainly involve:
- Construction materials testing (field and laboratory)
- Data entry and reporting
Nā tōu rourou | What you’ll bring
- A Bachelor of Science (BSc) qualification, majoring in Earth Science, Geology, Physical Geography, Environmental Science (preferred)
- You will ideally have completed at least Level 2 NCEA and have 0-2 years’ work experience.
- A full drivers licence and ability to operate a manual vehicle.
- Able to lift items weighing 20kg+;
- Computer literate – especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail
